Michael Lowrey Posted 30 August , 2007 Share Posted 30 August , 2007 Roy, The ship was the Standish Hall, not Standing Hall. She was a 3996 grt steamer built in 1912 by W. Doxford & Sons, Ltd., Sunderland for Standish Hall SS. Co., Ltd. which was torpedoed and sunk by U 33, on February 4, 1918, 38 miles W by N of Alexandria, while on a voyage from Bizerta for Alexandria with general cargo. No lives were lost in the sinking. Best wishes, Michael
