james_harvey Posted 29 August , 2007 Share Posted 29 August , 2007 Hi All Please can you me, currently researching a soilder in the east kent regiment and found out that his brother was KIA 17/06/16 on HMTD Eden a couple of questions 1. What does HMTD stand for as i have never come across it before. 2. Does anyone have any info on Eden as my books have drawn a blank, did she sink or was engaged in enemy action? 3. Why would he be buried in a cemetry in Le Harve? Any help greatly appreciated. Kind Regards James
ARABIS Posted 29 August , 2007 Share Posted 29 August , 2007 Hello James, It should probably be HMTBD, His Majesty`s Torpedo Boat Destroyer, an early title used for destroyers. Eden was a River class destroyer lost in a collision in the North Sea on 18th June 1916. Commanding Officer was Lt. A. C. Farguhar R.N. Regards, ARABIS.
