domwalsh Posted 28 August , 2007 Share Posted 28 August , 2007 I'm keen to find anything in local papers on R.M.A.14517 Gunner L Childs Royal Marine Artillery who was wounded at Zeebrugge raid 22-23/4/18. Many thanks, Dom
stiletto_33853 Posted 28 August , 2007 Share Posted 28 August , 2007 Dom, I will probably be in Southend library on Saturday looking up some things for Steve Newman, if possible I will have a little look for you. Andy
stiletto_33853 Posted 29 August , 2007 Share Posted 29 August , 2007 Dom, Any relation to Private Frederick Charles CHILDS, 1st Essex Regiment, died of wounds 16/8/1918. Andy
domwalsh Posted 29 August , 2007 Author Share Posted 29 August , 2007 Thanks Andy, that would be kind. Alas, the microfiche of ADM159 record of service for Leonard Childs is so terrible I can't see who his parents are. In fact just about the only thing I can discern is Southend. He served til 1923 or so and won medals for his boxing. Dom
stiletto_33853 Posted 1 September , 2007 Share Posted 1 September , 2007 Dom, I can find nothing concerning this gentleman in the March/April & May Southend Standards, however these are not in the best of conditions. I will be back there next week to dig a little more on a few things so will continue the search for anything on him. Andy
