ttd0 Posted 28 August , 2007 Share Posted 28 August , 2007 Am I right in believing that after the Great War there was a similar system in the RN as there was with the Army re Medal index cards? I am after the entitlement of a RNR officer and was wondering where these records are located? Appreciate any help ttd0
horatio2 Posted 28 August , 2007 Share Posted 28 August , 2007 No MICs for the Naval Service. Instead the NA has Medal Rolls (not avilable on-line): for RNR Officers these are ADM/171/92 and 171/93 (alphabetical) according to - http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalog...p?sLeafletID=
per ardua per mare per terram Posted 28 August , 2007 Share Posted 28 August , 2007 ADM 171/92 Royal Naval Reserve Officers: A-Mas also Royal Marines Officers: A-Z ADM 171/93 Royal Naval Reserve Officers: Mat-Z also Merchant Marine Reserve Officers and misc. The rolls are typed up all in nice and simple alphabetical order, now on microfilm, with first name in full. A few have been added by hand, but nothing as complex as MICs. If you know when he served his medal entitlement can be guessed with about 99% accuracy!
