wrong date

hello terry,the date of death of pte 5884 charles dunston,13th manchesters,is 18-6-1919,this is the date on his headstone and the CWGC site,the 13th never served on gallipoli.

Even odder....according to the LLT, 13/Manc had ceased to exist by mid 1918, being absorbed by 9/Manc - then in Belgium/France.

Perhaps this is one where you need to get the death certificate to see what's what.

thats what i was puzzled about john,and also the fact that they brought him all the way to anzac for reburial,were there any troops employed at or near gallipoli on grave registration units in 1919,just wondered if he was a volunteer, who stayed on to help bury his comrades.

I meant to say other parts of Gallipoli above rather than Turkey.

He possibly was part of the burial teams post war. There are seven late 1918 deaths, three 1919 deaths there and one post war Non-World War RN grave. Many of them died of pneumonia (flu again?).
