schooner Posted 24 August , 2007 Share Posted 24 August , 2007 Dear All, A mate of mine is anxious to find out details of his Grandfather, who family history maintains was a merchant sailor during the Great War. My friend was told that he could have served with the British Merchant Marine (he is an Aussie) as there is no record of him in Australia. The details he has are LARKIN, William Patrick, D.O.B 5th October 1899, born 41 Kensington St, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Thanks in advance, Phil. per ardua per mare per terram Posted 24 August , 2007 Share Posted 24 August , 2007 If he claimed the Mercantile Marine War Medal, the Medal Index cards are in BT 351. The service cards for 1918-41 are in BT 348-350 all on microfilm at Kew.
