clive_hughes Posted 12 August , 2007 Share Posted 12 August , 2007 Hi folks, A few years ago the TV broadcast a play staged in an adapted Scottish shipyard or similar industrial complex, about the men who fought through the First World War. I videoed it, but deleted it a little later . What was it called, and is it available on DVD?? LST_164
tootrock Posted 12 August , 2007 Share Posted 12 August , 2007 It was called "The Big Picnic". Don't know if it is available on DVD. Regards, Martin
jay dubaya Posted 12 August , 2007 Share Posted 12 August , 2007 Changing Step? Can't remember if this was set in Scotland, but the main character was Scottish and I think an amputee... cheers, Jon Nice one Martin The Big Picnic
clive_hughes Posted 12 August , 2007 Author Share Posted 12 August , 2007 Yep, that sounds like it! Many thanks Michael (or perhaps in keeping with the setting of the play I should say och, ta, but..?) LST_164

clive_hughes Posted 13 August , 2007 Author Share Posted 13 August , 2007 Gwyn, given that it doesn't seem to be available on Amazon, yes I'd be pleased to buy a copy if you can facilitate that. I agree with the other thread (whose existence is coincidental to my enquiry) that it's not "history" but as a piece of dramatic staging it was impressive. The music wasn't bad either. Staffsyeoman Posted 13 August , 2007 Share Posted 13 August , 2007 Indeed, The Big Picnic... But a plea to remember the modern opera "The Silver Tassie" - similar theme, thread...
