womo Posted 10 August , 2007 Share Posted 10 August , 2007 Hi Guys, Were class Z reservists paid in any way? Also, were they volunteers? or men who were in the regulars other than those who volunteered after the outbreak of the war? Regards, Womo
Anthony Bagshaw Posted 11 August , 2007 Share Posted 11 August , 2007 Womo, I belive, but maybe wrong, that the Class Z reserve were experienced men that would be called upon if hostilities started up again, my G Grandfather was one of those men, there is something on the long long trail but can't seem to find it!! Graham Stewart Posted 11 August , 2007 Share Posted 11 August , 2007 Transfer to the Class 'Z' Reserve was compulsory for those who were transferred on completion of hostilities. These were men who were required for instant call-up and they came from all categories. As regards Regulars I believe they were transferred to a different category of Reserve as they normally remained serving with the Colours until their termination of engagement. Graham.
