Terry Posted 9 August , 2007 Share Posted 9 August , 2007 I have a trio on the way, named to S-4190 Pte.P.McGrail,Seaforth Highlanders. When I downloaded his MIC, I found that he later was a private in the Tank Corps (regimental number 301479). I wonder if any forum members might be able to help translate his MIC details. It would appear that he was with the 1st Bn. of the Seaforths and landed in France 18 Feb.,1915. In the "Remarks" section appears to be the notation "Forfeited. Detention. Service Record 30.4.17", but the entry is lined out. Below the listing for medals is an asterisk with "Rest." (restored?) Tank 2 c2 page 332. Any thoughts? Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, Terry
delta Posted 10 August , 2007 Share Posted 10 August , 2007 The Tank Corps number is quite late (possiblly Spring 1918)
Terry Posted 10 August , 2007 Author Share Posted 10 August , 2007 Thanks Delta. I am working on the theory that McGrail somehow was a bad lad during his time with the Seaforths and ended up behind bars, but later redeemed himself with the Tank Corps and had his entitlements restored.
