historydavid Posted 9 August , 2007 Share Posted 9 August , 2007 Hello John, HMS Heather, aka Bywater, Seetrus, and Q 16, was an Aubretia type Sloop, built 1916, 1,250 tons displacement, carried 2x4 in, 1x3pdr AA guns and DC throwers, in service as Decoy Ship 1916 to 1918. Damaged 21/4/17 by torpedo from U 52 300 miles W from Ushant, France. Sold February 1932. The Aubretia type sloops that were used as decoy ships had their top-works built to resemble merchant ships and the guns were concealed. Best wishes David
