PDW Posted 29 July , 2007 Share Posted 29 July , 2007 I am told that the Wanaka air show in NZ next 20-23 March will have the best collection of flying WWI aircraft in the southern hemisphere. I plan to attend and would like a few practical tips (accomodation and suchlike) from anyone who has been to it. I will be flying in from Sydney to Christchurch. I believe it is a full days drive from there and I hear all local accom is booked out well ahead. Peter
stan Posted 27 August , 2007 Share Posted 27 August , 2007 Hi Peter, If you are referring to Classic Fighters at Marlborough (http://www.classicfighters.co.nz/) I'm going too. Though the next one isn't till 2009. If you are wanting to see more WW1 than WW2 aircraft, this is the one to go to (and it's undoubtedly the best in the world, not just the southern hemisphere, where else could you see 7 Fokker DR1's in the air at once?). Wanaka is mainly WW2 aircraft as I understand it. For truly great shots from Marlborough see: http://capphotography.fotopic.net/c1313799.html
