stephenh Posted 3 January , 2004 Posted 3 January , 2004 Having being studying the online Canadian War Diaries, I see that awards are announced eg MC MM at the end of virtually every month. Can this be confirmed that their action concerned did indeed occur in the month which they are mentioned. Stephen
Neil Burns Posted 4 January , 2004 Posted 4 January , 2004 To the best of my knowledge it is the month they were awarded and not necesaarily the month they were earned. Take care, Neil
stephenh Posted 5 January , 2004 Author Posted 5 January , 2004 Yeh Strange one this. My man is mentioned in the War diary at the end of December 1917 to be awarded the MM yet he was KIA mid Nov 1917. Is this unusual for him to be mentioned 1 1/2 months later, perhaps not in November when his probable MM action took place. Stephen
Neil Burns Posted 5 January , 2004 Posted 5 January , 2004 No doubt the 'Official' orders came down in December announcing the award. Take care, Neil
