Clio Posted 26 July , 2007 Share Posted 26 July , 2007 Although based at Blyth, the first nine G boats spent rather a lot of time up at Scapa from 1917 onwards. They were specifically detailed to patrol the Shetlands gap, engaged on anti submarine patrols. Brian Head of the Submarine Museum has carried out an extensive analysis of G boat patrols. His papers will be available in Blyth library William Carr's 'By Guess and By God' specifically covers G boat patrols in home waters. Ron Youngs forthcoming 'Silent Warriors' vols 1 and 4 offers an analysis of anti submarine patrols carried out by G boats from Blyth and the Tees as well as eye witness accounts
