Uniform recognition help please

Hi Pals,

Found this photograph today whilst looking in the box I inherited. I remeber it vagualey from years ago but know very little about it.

His name is Jack (possibly Bamford), I think he may have visited my Grandmother at about the time of the Great War, probably a distant relative (the brief message on the back is addressed 'Dear Auntie' and probably came from South Africa. He looks very young to me so don't know if he saw active service.

His cap has the initials C T N C (though the second C is a little indistict). Could this be Cape Town Naval Cadet or something along those lines?

Any help gratefully received I must confess my complete ignarance of anything Naval.
