keithfazzani Posted 12 July , 2007 Share Posted 12 July , 2007 Firstly have you tried to get his papers from NA Kew - they might have survived. This would tell you. Alternatively or additionally of you know the date of the injury the War Diary might help as they often list actions in which OR's were wounded even if not mentioning by name. Perhaps you could do a search in War Diaries to see if anyone has the dates in question for the Cheshire Regiment.
ian turner Posted 12 July , 2007 Share Posted 12 July , 2007 Joe, If he got a pension then his records just might survive, and being initial C you might not have long to wait before such records are online with Ancestry. Ian
Joe Walsh Posted 17 July , 2007 Author Share Posted 17 July , 2007 i have his papers but theyre so badly burned its hard to tell, people in the family reckon it was gas related. From the papers it said he went to bradford hospital. When he died the doctor said it was not related to the war, but all his children say it was, so he didnt get the pension i dont think.
