Btt. Deutschland Posted 12 July , 2007 Share Posted 12 July , 2007 Today the festivities for the 90th anniversary of the battle of Passchendaele started. Today most of the festivities took place at Tyne Cot Cemetery, and the Menin Gate in Ypres. Extra treat of the day; Queen Elisabeth came to listen to the Last Post at the Menin Gate, inaugurated a new monument, and than came to Tyne Cot. Here some photo's of Tyne Cot. Comments, photo's are most welcome! Regards, Wouter

Arras100 Posted 13 July , 2007 Share Posted 13 July , 2007 You're fortunate to have been there. Thanks so much for sharing your pictures with us. (Can you tell me why the graves were sectioned off there in that one picture?)
Btt. Deutschland Posted 13 July , 2007 Author Share Posted 13 July , 2007 thanks ice tiger and sassoon! Because of the Queen, the greatest safety measures were taken. They sectioned off a lot of pieces of the cemetery, where you couldn't walk, so that the police force would have a better view over where the crowd could stand. That was the only minor point of the celebration, some places were just unreachable to get too, so if you really wanted to see the whole Tyne Cot, you'd better come on a more quiet day regards
