ChrisC Posted 8 July , 2007 Share Posted 8 July , 2007 The gentleman above, The Reverend A.F.Fenn, Chaplain to the Forces Fourth Class was Mentioned in Dispatches on 4th Jan 1917 in LG 29890 p 251. The NA has 2 documents for him, both referring to his MID. I cannot locate a MIC referring to other medals My question is; would he have received a mention in FM Haig's dispatches if he did not serve overseas? Can I find out which unit he was chaplain to? Any pointers happily received Chris C

Stebie9173 Posted 8 July , 2007 Share Posted 8 July , 2007 In 1910 he seems to have been Curate of St. Augustine's, Wisbech, Cambridgeshire., and in Guist, Norfolk in 1913. Perhaps, an Easterm Counties unit? He seems to have an officer file at the NA : WO 374/23883 FENN, Revd A F 1916-1919 Steve.

Procat Posted 12 July , 2007 Share Posted 12 July , 2007 Hi Chris, Having just found this post I rechecked my sources for Anthony Frederick Fenn to no avail. There is only Anthony Fourdrinier Fenn. Whether they are one and the same I am unsure. Doug

SiegeGunner Posted 12 July , 2007 Share Posted 12 July , 2007 Not specific to the Rev A F Fenn, but while the Army Chaplaincy experts are assembled, could I ask about the rank/class structure for chaplains - Temporary Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, sounds a fairly lowly classification for a padre who could be serving in the front line. How did the structure work? Mick
