AndrewFrench Posted 20 September , 2007 Share Posted 20 September , 2007 Hi, Can someone please help me with information regarding Lieutenant (or possibly 2nd Lieut) L.D. Brown R.F.C. He originally enlisted in the Berks Yeo and then transferred to the RFC/RAF. Thank you in advance. Leo Dymore Brown enlisted with the Berkshire Yeomanry in August 1914 at Yeomanry House Reading. Given the number 2000 he was posted to 1st Troop B (Reading) Sqdn were his brother Tpr HP "Pat" was already serving. After training with the 1/1st Berkshire Yeomanry on the Berkshire Downs and then in Norfolk during the winter. the regiment sailed for Egypt in April 1915. They remained at Alexandria in camp after landing for a week ro two and then were sent to Kasr el Nil Barracks in Cairo carrying out guard duties etc. Swapping barraqacks for Abbassia circa July 1915 where traing oportunities were better, the were sent to Gallipoli in Augist 1915. I will have to check my notes and get back top you as to whether Leo DB went to gallipoli or not. HOWEVER you will be pleased to know we have some photos of Leo which I will post for you when I can find them. The Dymore Browms were brewers in Reading. So what's you interest in Leo Dymore Brown Regards Andrew
