bmac Posted 26 June , 2007 Share Posted 26 June , 2007 Does anyone know if there is a particular memorial to those lost on HMHS Lanfranc torpedoed on 17th April 1917?
historydavid Posted 26 June , 2007 Share Posted 26 June , 2007 Bill, I have details of 4 crew who were never found and 1 who was buried in France. If these are of interest let me have your email address. Best wishes David
bmac Posted 27 June , 2007 Author Share Posted 27 June , 2007 David, Thanks for the offer. What I was really wondering is whether, like the Salta and Galeka, there was a general memorial to the dead of the Lanfranc. It's a really minor thing. These ships plus a couple of NZ hospital ships were working out of Le Havre just after 1st July 1916 and I have a footnote for the new book about them and the fate of the three that subsequently were lost to enemy action and one that sank in a collision after the war. I have the references to the St Sever memorials to the Salta and Galeka dead and wanted, if possible, to do a similar reference of the Lanfranc.
