Q98 Posted 22 June , 2007 Share Posted 22 June , 2007 Hi all I am researching an ancestor of mine; Charles McCREADIE. The following is all I have: Charles McCREADIE (b. 27 Sep 1889, Shellknowe, Ballantrae) Seaman, Royal Naval Reserve, HMS Beryl married 24 Mar 1916, Shellknowe, Ballantrae Elizabeth McTIER (b. c 1895, unknown d. unknown) His second forename may well have been Keenan but am not certain of that. It would appear from the above that, at the time of his marriage in 1916, he was Royal Navy Reserve serving on HMS BERYL. Just now noticed "larneman"s entry under "Tower Hill Monument" - in his third topic entry he has at the bottom "Yacht Beryl". Any info regarding Charles or HMS BERYL gratefully received. per ardua per mare per terram Posted 22 June , 2007 Share Posted 22 June , 2007 Copies of McCREADIE's service cards are in BT 377/7 at Kew stored in service number order. You can find his number on the alphabetical medal roll in ADM 171/122 (i think that's where they list all the Mc & Mac surnames otherwise they will be in ADM 171/123). These copies can be hard to read, the originals are held at the Fleet Air Arm Museum.
