I was looking at a service record at Kew, and the person concerned was Invalided to England on the AS Carisbrooke Castle on 25th May 1918. Does anyone have any information on this ship, maybe a scanned photo?

According to Union Castle Line History the Carisbrook(e) Castle,a Royal Mail packet of 7626 tons, and part of a weekly service to South Africa, was requisitioned in 1915 as a Hospital Ship on Government service. It was built in 1898 and scrapped in 1922.

Pre war she worked the South African run for the Union Castle Line. During WWI she operated as an Hospital Ship (HS) mostly in the Mediterranean, towards the end of the war she was switched to bringing home the wounded from France and became an Ambulance Ship (AS).
