Petroc Posted 4 June , 2007 Share Posted 4 June , 2007 Apologies for kind of repeating an earlier question, but I'm really keen to know if the authorities responsible for military manpower in the UK during the last two-and-a-half years of the War maintained regular records of how many recruits were obtained from each geographical area or district of the country. If so...do they still exist? I presume from the local and regional perspective that there was little real point or desire to do likewise? I guess that newspapers, journals, etc were pretty keen to proclaim recruiting surges during 1914-16 since the number of recruits produced by an area was perceived as being in direct relationship with that area's patriotism and commitment to national ideals......doesn't seem to matter when conscription technically applies to all (allowing for exemptions)?
