Andrew P Posted 27 December , 2003 Share Posted 27 December , 2003 Hi Tim If you want to, feel free to add your list of unit histories to the ones we have mentioned in another thread on this subject. Hopefully between all of us we can cover most of the Australian unit histories out there. http://www.1914-1918.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=698 Regards Andrew

David Seymour Posted 22 February , 2004 Share Posted 22 February , 2004 Tim, I'm researching the Old Boys on the War Memorial at Thetford Grammar School in Norfolk. William A Green died on 14/3/17 with 44th Bn. AIF. Would it be possible to look him up (I realise ORs rarely get a named mention) or to give me some idea of what his unit was doing then? I have seen on the web William's 'Particulars Required for the Roll of Honour of Australia in the Memorial War Museum'. This has provided a little additional information. I note from recent posts that it is possible to get service records online. How does this work? Which web address do you have to go to? As always very grateful for any help in this project. Best wishes, David
Chris_Baker Posted 22 February , 2004 Share Posted 22 February , 2004 The complete Australian Official History is available online at the website of the Australian War Memorial. It can be downloaded, and consists of a number of fairly large Adobe Acrobat files.
David Seymour Posted 22 February , 2004 Share Posted 22 February , 2004 Chris, Thanks for that reference. On another tack I've just come across the online Canadian War History - originally mentioned in a post by Laughton last year. laughton Posted 14 March , 2004 Share Posted 14 March , 2004 David: Just so you know, the web site for my research on the Canadian records has been moved to a new web site at: http://www.censol.ca/research/greatrwar/ The original location of the Nicholson text on the Canadian Expeditionary Force has also moved and it is at: http://www.forces.gc.ca/hr/dhh/downloads/O...ories/CEF_e.PDF That is a PDF text version only but I was able to get a copy of the text on inter-library loan and I have scanned and posted all the maps in colour. These are posted on my site at: http://www.censol.ca/research/greatwar/nic.../maps/index.htm Richard
