Pippa1 Posted 4 June , 2007 Share Posted 4 June , 2007 First Thank you gentlemen for your help. The last bit in the puzzle is the 'REMARKS" section of the record. From what I can work our is that Richard was invalided out of the RN, suffering from Epilepsy and ??????????? with engs does anybody know what the words are and other than epilepsy what they mean. In particular the inclusion of the word 'merchant' unless this refers to Richard's service as a D.A.M.S. Gunner. joseph Posted 5 June , 2007 Share Posted 5 June , 2007 All entrys in the remarks column refer to entry's on the Service certificate. Follow the reference mark and you will find a corresponding entry. IE the entry GIB is not followed by a 4 but the reference 'tick and two cross marks' which corresponds with the remarks column about him recieving his badge in Sept 1917 whilst on DAMS. Pippa1 Posted 13 June , 2007 Author Share Posted 13 June , 2007 Charles, Steven. The answer is yes. Kirsty thinks I'm something terrific, like old sailors I walk on water. At present she is she admits pestering her Nan, about her (Kirsty's) Great Grandfather, unfortunately her Nan has had to admit that she really knows very little, about her father and that Kirsty probably knows more that her. So gentlemen, a greatful thanks from Down Under. Kindest Regards Bill Wyndham
