Breen2099 Posted 29 May , 2007 Share Posted 29 May , 2007 I don't know if this is the right part of the forum for this, but I recently bought a dough boy helmet for $25 at an antique shop, it was repainted white for civil defense, so i decided to repaint the helmet it's original color. so here it is: (don't mind the random star trek stuff )
Guest Trenchwire Posted 29 May , 2007 Share Posted 29 May , 2007 This is a w11 helmet im afraid the wholes on the brim depict the quality of the helmet and to which organisation it was issued to, there was great article in the armourer some time back about this ill try and dig it out for you
59165 Posted 29 May , 2007 Share Posted 29 May , 2007 Yes mate, trenchmire is 100% right on the age of this. The problem is,it would have been worth more if you'd left it white plus,if your not sure on the history of something, dont buy it or,dont mess with it when you have it. Nice StarTreck stuff though
Breen2099 Posted 29 May , 2007 Author Share Posted 29 May , 2007 lol I should have realized it wasn't, I figured nothing else could go wrong today... o well, let me ask u this, would it pass as WWI say if it wasnt used for antique value, I am using it as a prop for a short film
59165 Posted 29 May , 2007 Share Posted 29 May , 2007 For a prop, with no 'experts' looking on,yes.Put a cloth cover over it & it will do the trick . Just search helmets/covers on here & you should get a clue of what the covers look like. You cant go wrong. Dave.
