Gunboat Posted 25 May , 2007 Share Posted 25 May , 2007 I really like this. And although it works well in monochrome have you any Any plans to do a colour version?
aley Posted 28 May , 2007 Author Share Posted 28 May , 2007 Thankyou. I hadn't thought about it. This was just a doodle really - trying to suggest half light, perhaps just after dawn or dusk, so i was trying to keep things a bit ambiguous. Footage (supposedly genuine) of an attack in progress from the film "The Battle of the Ancre" was in the back of my mind. Thanks for your comments. susanhemmings Posted 29 May , 2007 Share Posted 29 May , 2007 Very nice picture. All misty and (as Owen D says) haunted. Thanks for sharing Susan.
PoW1988 Posted 4 June , 2007 Share Posted 4 June , 2007 You have really captured the essence of battle in this truly "haunting" interpretation of a battle in progress. The use of the grey is emotive in a sense, as it communicates the feeling on the battlefield. Perhaps strange to you guys but grey is a colour that I associate with death and mourning and I believe this picture screams this to me. The haziness/mistiness also speaks a thousand words, does it represent something e.g. rain, gas? A great picture, Lynsey
PoW1988 Posted 4 June , 2007 Share Posted 4 June , 2007 Oopsie...need to read more carefully! I realise now that it's meant to represent half light...sorry!
John_Hartley Posted 4 June , 2007 Share Posted 4 June , 2007 I'm not often a great fan of the war art posted on the Forum but I really like this. Reckon it gives a good impression of the half-light, smoke and wot-not. John (PS: apologies to other artists - I know nothing of art but I know wot I like!) DaveBrigg Posted 5 June , 2007 Share Posted 5 June , 2007 I'd put it on my wall. Not bad for a 'doodle'!

Ozzie Posted 13 June , 2007 Share Posted 13 June , 2007 It conveys so much, through that half light. Have a go at the MGWAT. Cheers Kim
