Remembered Today:

S.T Leander and S.T. Nellie Bruce

Hello - These are two woefully short entries in David Boswell’s Lost List of Grimsby Trawlers - 1800 -1960:

1915 Leander (S.T. 276grt.) Lost

1916 Nellie Bruce (S.T. 192grt.) Lost

It’s possible that these Grimsby registered vessels were sailing from another port or requisitioned by the Navy at the time of their loss and in either case, not manned by Grimsby men, so not reported locally!

If anyone can help with more information on the fate of these trawlers and their crews it would be appreciated.

Cheers Terry

David - Thanks for the list. James Dadd is a possible relative on my mums side. I need to check him out. Information on the CWGC data is sparse regarding casualtie's origins but only Sydney Parker seems to have a Grimsby connection.

Information posted seems to suggest Nellie Bruce was engaged in fishing (and most probably crewed by Grimsby men) - not in Admiralty service as Leander / Leandros undoubtedly was (and most probably not crewed by Grimsby men).

Thanks again

Cheers Terry
