Stebie9173 Posted 18 May , 2007 Share Posted 18 May , 2007 It could mean Home service if an officer claimed medals erroneously and the Medal card was produced to show that he wasn't entitled. Steve.
womo Posted 18 May , 2007 Author Share Posted 18 May , 2007 Hi Steve, I thought about Home Service but this card shows the award of the 14-15 star, vic and bwm. Just looked at the card again and the gent was a private. Regards, Womo
the gunners dream Posted 19 May , 2007 Share Posted 19 May , 2007 Can you post the MIC on the forum? It may help. My money would be on Home Service too. Steve
AndrewBelsey Posted 22 May , 2007 Share Posted 22 May , 2007 My Great Uncle was also with the RAMC and served on HMHS Brittanic -a Hospital Ship. His MIC also has 'HS' for theatre of war entered too, so 'HS' is HOSPITAL SHIPand is the date when he first went on board. Andy
KONDOA Posted 22 May , 2007 Share Posted 22 May , 2007 If he boarded a ship on service from a home port in the qualifying period he would have a medal entitlement. Roop
womo Posted 22 May , 2007 Author Share Posted 22 May , 2007 Hi Roop, This fella was entitled to a 14-15 trio. This isn't a set I own, just saw it on a medal card when I downloaded some others. Cheers, Womo
KONDOA Posted 23 May , 2007 Share Posted 23 May , 2007 Yes a trio but is it a 14 star or a 14-15 star. My GGF was similarly issued a trio but with the 14 - 15 star. He served on mine sweepers in UK waters only. Roop
