Trebrys Posted 18 May , 2007 Share Posted 18 May , 2007 I wonder whether the experts out there could meat out the information I have on the observer from Porthmadog, Wales mentioned above? I know that he was killed on June 16 1918 over Crape-au-Mesnil, but I wonder if anyone knows the details of his demise? Is it known who brought him and his pilot (Hirst) down? Dolphin Posted 18 May , 2007 Share Posted 18 May , 2007 Trebrys 2Lt Sidney Hirst (aged 23, from Moseley, Warwickshire) and 2Lt J M Hughes were flying in DH 9 C6192 of No 103 Sqn RAF on a bombing raid on Roye, having left Fourneuil aerodrome , when they were brought down at 1000 by what looked like a direct hit by anti-aircraft fire on 16 June 1918.
