Bob Chandler Posted 11 May , 2007 Share Posted 11 May , 2007 I am trying to find out where this photo was taken. Although it dates from WW2, I would like to ask fellow GWF members for help as I am sure someone will recognise it. It has the name and address of a Tonbridge photographer on the back. Included in this group is my late uncle Bill Butler, RA, who was stationed on the Sussex coast before going on active service in France/Belgium in about September 1944 on 5.5 inch guns. Any information / thoughts very welcome. Many thanks Charles
Neil Clark Posted 15 June , 2007 Share Posted 15 June , 2007 The largest army camp near Tonbridge / Tunbridge Wells was The Warren at Crowborough, East Sussex? The camp is still used by the MoD (Army) and you can see it on Google Earth quite clearly... It was in use during the Great War and was used extensively during the Second Scrap too.
