alcluith Posted 26 April , 2007 Share Posted 26 April , 2007 I am searching for any information on Lieutenant Robert Guy Young, who we believe was a pilot in WW1. He was a rubber planter from Malaya and I know he was in Edinburgh 1919 where he married my great aunt. He rejoins the RAF in WWII and was a Japanese POW in Penang for 31/2 years. rgds Drew Davidson

APW Posted 26 April , 2007 Share Posted 26 April , 2007 Drew There is a Lt RG Young listed as a pilot in the Aug 1918 RAF list and an indication that he was in the RAF on 1 Apr 1918 when it formed. Patrick
Dolphin Posted 26 April , 2007 Share Posted 26 April , 2007 Drew I don't know if he's your man, but a 2Lt R G Young was flying DH 9 C6072 of No 11 Training Depot Station at Old Sarum on 20 April 1918. The aeroplane crashed when it stalled during a turn close to the ground. 2Lt Young and his observer, 2Lt A F Tong, were both injured, the former seriously.
