danlowlander Posted 19 April , 2007 Share Posted 19 April , 2007 my grandfather was also torpedoed on the ship SS Hemisphere by The Cron Prince Wilhelm He was taken prisoner in Buenos Aries but released with help of the Red cross, he was released due to his age of 50-56. historydavid Posted 20 April , 2007 Share Posted 20 April , 2007 Hello Dan, On 28th December 1914 SS Hemisphere, 3,486 grt, was captured by German Raider AMC Kronprinz Wilhelm, blown up 400 miles NExE (true) from Pernambuco, Brazil, crew transferred to SS Holger, landed at Buenos Aires 18th February, Atlantic Ocean, cargo was Coal, route Hull to Buenos Aires.
