Neil Clark Posted 19 April , 2007 Share Posted 19 April , 2007 Dan, It might be a good idea to post another thread on Cemeteries and Memorials regarding the possible Non Commemoration of 2nd Mate W.J MORRIS. It would be helpful if you could describe the circumstances of this man's death. Merchant navy sailors often get a bit of a raw deal compared to Royal Navy sailors. This will be explained in more detail if you post a thread here... Best of Luck. Neil
per ardua per mare per terram Posted 19 April , 2007 Share Posted 19 April , 2007 As he was an officer there should be records for him, here's the link to the National Archive research guide. http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/catalog...?sLeafletID=
per ardua per mare per terram Posted 19 April , 2007 Share Posted 19 April , 2007 Merchant seamen only got onto the CWGC records if the death was directly and totally due to the war, that's the rough jist. His family could have claimed the Mercantile Marine War Medal, their cards are in BT 351.
