AlanW Posted 12 April , 2007 Share Posted 12 April , 2007 Hi, I have attached a postcard featuring my grandfather Stephen Wellbelove when he was serving in Salonica with the Suffolk Regiment. He was there from October 1915 till January 1919 I believe. Previously he served with the Suffolks at Ypres and was wounded 25 April 1915. He is standing at the back (in the middle). Not sure if photo has any details of interest. Alan
MartinWills Posted 13 April , 2007 Share Posted 13 April , 2007 Some of the photographers in Salonika had some interesting backdrops. I've seen another with which features a naval gun turret!
Garron Posted 13 April , 2007 Share Posted 13 April , 2007 The flags look to be those of the allied countries so would the fact that the american flag is flying in the backdrop mean the photo is late war?, as they didn't join untill 1917, Garron
