charlotte cardoen-descamps Posted 15 December , 2003 Share Posted 15 December , 2003 The local history club of Poperinge is planning an event in April next year, which will partly cover the history of the Great War. In order to set up the scene and also in order to announce their event, they are looking for copies of posters which were used at the time to announce a show, a concert or a revue. Does anyone has any idea at all where something like that could be found? It would be really nice if someone would be able to point out where one or more of these posters could be found. A poster used in Poperinge at the time would be absolute ... I really wonder whether the forum will be able to offer help in the matter... Thanks in advance on the behalve of the local history club. salientpoints Posted 15 December , 2003 Share Posted 15 December , 2003 Hi Charlotte, You could take a peek at http://www.ww1-propaganda-cards.com/index.html and http://www.lib.byu.edu/~rdh/wwi/ or failing that the Imperial War Museum in London. They may have something in their archives. http://www.iwm.org.uk/collections/index.htm If you let them know what you might be after I am sure they can help you. They do also have a lot of stuff online now you can browse. If you come unstuck let me know what you are after with a bit more detail. I do know a couple of folks at the museum that may be able to ask around. Regards Ryan
charlotte cardoen-descamps Posted 16 December , 2003 Author Share Posted 16 December , 2003 Thank you for the info Ryan. I have forwarded it to the chairman of the history club who will hopefully find what he is looking for. And thanks for mentioning that wrong website address. I have changed that immediately. charlotte
