shaun6055 Posted 2 April , 2007 Share Posted 2 April , 2007 This group photo from my grandads small collection looks like it could have been taken in the grounds of a hospital or convalescent home. Another photo I have was taken at the Lancaster convalescent home in Sept. 1916 but I'm not sure if this was taken at the same time. I think the man with a white block between his knees is my granddad, John Lyons K.O.Y.L.I. 3129 & Royal Irish Fusiliers 23539.
hillgorilla Posted 10 April , 2007 Share Posted 10 April , 2007 Hi, Could be Lancaster, the ridge in the background looks similar to the one which has the Ashton Memorial on it. Best wishes, Hillgorilla

Guest Posted 19 October , 2007 Share Posted 19 October , 2007 Hi The structure behind the men looks like the shelters that were to be found in airing courts of mental hospitals. I would suggest that the photo was taken in one of the Asylum War Hospitals (Asylums handed over to the military in 1915). Ian
