submarine Posted 30 March , 2007 Share Posted 30 March , 2007 Dear All Just seen a 1914/15 trio to a stoker on " HMS Good Hope " who died 1st November 1914,When the Good Hope was lost. But why a 1914/15 Star and not a 1914 Star and Bar ? Any ideas ? Colin
joseph Posted 30 March , 2007 Share Posted 30 March , 2007 Colin, The 1914 star was for service ashore in France and Flanders, any other theatre got 1914/15. submarine Posted 30 March , 2007 Author Share Posted 30 March , 2007 Many thanks Charles As you Possibly guessed i am an Army man with a growing interest in the Royal Navy. Still seems strange though. Colin
per ardua per mare per terram Posted 30 March , 2007 Share Posted 30 March , 2007 The 1914 Star was devised as a distinction for the old army who fought up to the end of the 1st battle of Ypres, so it excluded anyone not in the qualifying zones.
