nhclark Posted 30 March , 2007 Share Posted 30 March , 2007 Can anyone help me, please, with the activities of HMS Barham in 1918, and (if I may be allowed to a little "topic-stretch") the immediate post-war period up to December 1919? Many thanks, Noel
HERITAGE PLUS Posted 30 March , 2007 Share Posted 30 March , 2007 Noel In 1918 HMS Barham went into refit. She was given aircraft platforms on B and X turrets. From 1920 to 1924 she was part of the Atlantic Fleet. Dave
nhclark Posted 30 March , 2007 Author Share Posted 30 March , 2007 Dave, Thanks. I have to confess that my AB joined the Barham on 1st May 1919. Would she still have been refitting then? My man had terrible discipline problems with Barham. 6 days in the cells inearly May, followed by 28 days detention for "absence" (so preumably Barham could not have been at sea then) and finally 42 days detention for "insolaence" before discharge SNLR. He'd served in the Dardanelles on Cornwallis, and then on Theseus in the Med. and the White sea, with no problems whatsoever. Noel
HERITAGE PLUS Posted 30 March , 2007 Share Posted 30 March , 2007 Noel She came out of refit in April 1919 and joined the 1st Battle Squadron, Atlantic Fleet. Dave
