DMcNay Posted 29 March , 2007 Share Posted 29 March , 2007 hi guys, Wonder if someone could fill me in. This fellow appears on my Bank of Scotland Roll of Honour, and I've been trying to find out some information about the ship he was on, with no success. Can anyone enlighten me? Name: GRIERSON, WILLIAM Initials: W Nationality: United Kingdom Rank: Signalman Regiment/Service: Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve Unit Text: H.M. Drifter Our Allies. Age: 21 Date of Death: 22/10/1918 Service No: Clyde Z/7977 Additional information: Son of Thomas and Christian Grierson, of 4, Battery Place, Glasswork St., Kirkcaldy, Fife. Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead Grave/Memorial Reference: 3. Cemetery: GALLIPOLI COMMUNAL CEMETERY I know that he worked at he Auchtermuchty branch of the BoS and he died of influenza, but that's the sum total of my knowledge about him. What kind of ship would this have been? What size? What duties would it have carried out? More importantly, any pictures of it? Thanks, David
