cliff brown Posted 29 March , 2007 Share Posted 29 March , 2007 Charles Hayes Beldam, born in Cambridgeshire, enlisted in Canadian Exp Force in Dec 1914 (I have downloaded his record sheets from Canadian archive). He was commissioned into Cambridgeshire Rgt, but became a Flying Officer. The War Office weekly casualty list 10-8-17 listed him as 2nd Lt, RFC, Prisoner of War. Any info appreciated about circumstances of his capture.
Dolphin Posted 29 March , 2007 Share Posted 29 March , 2007 Cliff Lt C H Beldam was the pilot of FE 2d A1956 of No 20 Sqn RFC, with 2Lt W H Watt as the observer, when shot down near Verbrandenmolen after a fight with enemy aircraft at about 1445 on 31 July 1917. 2Lt Watt was wounded and both airmen were taken Prisoner of War. A victory was credited to [then] Vizefeldwebel Kurt Wusthoff of Jasta 4; it was the 6th of his eventual 27. I hope that this helps you.
