Remembered Today:

A defunct web site

Searching Google I've come across two references to a web site which now appears to be unavailable. The URLs were:-

greatwar.topcities.com/First_Ypres/First_Ypres_01.htm

and

greatwar.topcities.com/First_Ypres/First_Ypres_02.htm

Each Google entry featured brief extracts. The first read:-

"... Hardress Lloyd was beside me on our return homeward as we crept through Wytschaete,

winding round chaotic Indian transport, then - dashed on at a good pace ... "

whilst the second was:-

"... Just before nine o'clock Hardress Lloyd came back from the trenches, where he had gone with de Lisle. ... Hardress Lloyd was in the tonneau. ... "

Can anyone tell me a) which account these extracts come from and B) any other information about this site?

The Hardress Lloyd I believe this refers to was with the 4th Dragoon Guards in 1914 - if that's any help.

All contributions gratefully received... Thanks in anticipation.

Doh! Don't you just hate it when that happens?

Thanks for looking for me. I am now seeing 'The Great War in a Different Light'.

Best wishes

Bryn

PS See? That's why you're a Sergeant-Major and I'm only a Private...
