n cherry Posted 16 March , 2007 Share Posted 16 March , 2007 Sister M Wood won a Military Medal in the Salient in August 1917 for bravery during an artillery bombardment at 44 CCS. She is one of the few women in the Great War to win such a medal, can anyone help with details of any others?

welshdoc Posted 16 March , 2007 Share Posted 16 March , 2007 No there are many others in different gazettes. You have to search them out although I think there are several nursing experts on the forum who will have a better idea than me. gareth

petestarling Posted 16 March , 2007 Share Posted 16 March , 2007 The Army Medical Services Museum has details of the female MM awardees and several of the medal groups. In WW1 there were 36 QAIMNS ans QAIMNS/R plus 17 TFNS. Pete Starling
