Rory Reynolds Posted 9 March , 2007 Share Posted 9 March , 2007 Hi all Can anyone enlighten me as to what the abbreviation "B.SVT" stands for? I have a medla to a Henry James Lamb upon which this appellation is impressed. A friend mentioned that this is for "Body Servant" but he wasn't sure. If this is correct then what were the functions and duties of a "Body Servant"? Also, how many of these chaps were on a ship and how scarce is the rank? Please help. per ardua per mare per terram Posted 9 March , 2007 Share Posted 9 March , 2007 It stands for Boy Servant, so it was the 'Boy' (for simpliity he was under 18) rating for the domestic branch.
