Hi Tim,

Just a little bit of info for you.

Henshaw's TSTB states on the 8th June 1917 that Captain W I Bailey, whilst on an offensive dawn patrol at 3:05 am in his FE8 - number 6445 - was forced to land in the Ypres salient. His aircraft was shelled and destroyed. He was wounded in the action.

I cannot find any evidence that he claimed any victories.

Number 41 squadron was at that time flying from Hoondschoote but would within a week return to Abeele where it had been based before it moved to Hoondscoote on 24th May.

Regards

Steve
