Donny Anderson Posted 22 February , 2007 Share Posted 22 February , 2007 Hi All, A couple of questions reguarding RMLI recruitment/training. 1. Prior to World War One (circa 1912) was all RMLI recruit training carried out at Deal prior to posting to the relivent Division? 2. If all recruit training was carried out at Deal was a recruit assigned a Division on attestation or on completion of training? Thanks in advance, Donny
horatio2 Posted 22 February , 2007 Share Posted 22 February , 2007 I think the answers are: 1. Yes. 2. Not long after arriving at Deal - definitely not on attestation. Some recruits who were discharged very early at Deal (within a few days/couple of weeks) had already been given register numbers (CH/PLY/PO). However, some also changed Division (nominally) while still undergoing initial training and left Deal on their second register number.
