MiC for Victor Hardy...

Hello all,

Here is my hubby's G-grandgather's MiC (Victor HARDY) and I hope some one might be able to explain what it is trying to tell me.

post-19166-1171749935.jpg

I see that he recieved the "Trio" of medals and also the SWB.

I guess he was probably injured whilst overseas?

I thought that the date 20.8.14 was the discharge date but now I think it is the date he originally left England.

Would that be right?

I am in Australia and wondered if any of you might know how I can find out more about him.

Kind regards

Hilary

date is indeed when embarked

SWB doesnt always mean injured overseas but the vast majority are wounds or illness caused by service outside the UK

for more specific details you need to see if his service papers exist

Hi Coldstreamer

Thanks for the reply and the welcome :)

So far in my searching it seems that I would need to go to the National Archives to get his service records?

I wondered if there was a medal roll or other listing on-line that I might use to find out something?

Thanks agein

Hilary

some one may have a copy of the ASC medal rolls - worth a new thread to ask

and no guarantee his papers will be there sorry - millions got destroyed during ww2 but any that survive will be at the NA
