It doesn't sound a common name - No hits via CWGC but a search of the Forum using Beeby as the search criteria brings us many references to the name, the following is the closest I can spot :

Hello members, I have recently come upon a WW1 Victory medal to a 1.A.M E.J. Beeby in the R.A.F. When I researched him I found his papers stated service in India from 21/07/16 to 17/06/19. It does not mention his squadron. Do any members have any information what squadrons served in India during this time and what their roles would have been as it seems to be an unusual theatre of war for the R.F.C / R.A.F. Any help would be much obliged. medals1976

Not your man judging by the initials, perhaps related ? Who Knows.

Checked the NA and found 209 Beeby's none from the RAF or RFC, but then again he may well have transferred to the RFC/RAF from another regiment (as was common at the time). Checked the NA again for S Beeby and the following 7 :

A further search of the NA with a slight spelling change 'Beebee' brings us :

Medal card of Beebee, Alfred

Corps: Royal Flying Corps

Regiment No: 14956

Rank: Acting Corporal

1914-1920 WO 372/2

Still not there yet.

Josturm, do you have anything else to add for this chap, dates, places, any connections or angles to think around ?

Most of the Forum references are to me...

I can tell you it's not the Sapper 236948 or Northamptonshire Regiment 17023. They are the same man, my great-uncle!

However, if you do find these medals - trio and MM.....

Steve (aka S. Beeby).

Can't see an MIC, though there should be one, of course!

He's not a relative as far as I know. No h'offica material, 'ere, me old china. (Nor cockney neither...)

There was a "posh" (the other type of Posh, Mr. Broomfield) Stanley Beeby living in London through from the 30s to the 50s. 127 Stapleton Hall Rd, N.4, Mountview Exchange per London telephone lists in 1932 (has to be posh if he had a phone then?). 5 Caversham Av N.13. from at least 1949 to 1957.

There is a family of Beebys living at 61 Grenville, Islington on the 1901 Census.

Mother is Mary S (no father listed but Mary not listed as a Widow), age 44, born Newcastle-on-Tyne

Son James W is an Engineers Clerk, age 21, born Newcastle-on-Tyne

Son Walter E is a "Photo Process Etcher Copper & Zinc", age 19, born Newcastle-on-Tyne

Son Percy J, age 14, born Islington

Son Stanley, age 12, born Islington

This is the only Stanley Beeby on the 1901 Census.

The father, John Beeby is shown on the 1891 Census as age 37 (b. abt. 1854) as a Copper Plate Engraver, born in Carlisle, Cumberland (one of the Beeby "enclaves")

There is a marriage of a Stanley Beeby in Q1 of 1915 at Barnet. The marriage register index show him married to either Honor M Hutton or Margeurite Hutton. I believe this is a composite entry, and that he married a lady called Honor Marguerite Hutton, for whom there is a birth registration in Barnstaple, Devon in 1891.
