I found them by accident, what's interesting is that the Artist gives the Soldiers name and number/unit etc.. Jon1906 Posted 26 January , 2021 Share Posted 26 January , 2021 My grandfather, Corporal Robert Bruce Fowler, NZ Machine Gun Battalion, is one of the men in the paintings. He's on page 2. As for how life was after the war ... he was wounded on October 8th 1918, and got married in London on Jan 1st 1919. He had five children (one killed in WW2). When my grandmother died, he married a girl 30 years younger than him (he was 70, she was 40). He died at age 93. I'm sure a lot of these men suffered because of their wounds, but my granddad wasn't going to let it slow him down... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
