This will be his Medal Index Card:

Medal card of Raymond, Harold Alfred

Corps Regiment No Rank

Army Service Corps S4/093598 Private

West Riding Regiment attached Royal Air Force Second Lieutenant

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documen...p;resultcount=1

These can be downloaded for £3.50 from the National Archives website and give us the starting point for research.

If you also check out the Long, Long Trail link at the top of the page, this will give you an idea of what can be done to research a Soldier/Airman.

Steve.

Here is his London Gazette entry for his formal transfer to the RAF:

London Gazette 10-12-1918

Air Ministry,

10th December, 1918.

ROYAL AIR FORCE.

FLYING BRANCH.

The undermentioned are granted temp. commns. as 2nd Lts. (A.) : —

16th Nov. 1918.

Harold Alfred Raymond (2nd Lt., W. Rid R., Spec. Res.).

He does seem to have been attached to the RFC and RAF before this, of course.

Steve.
