Chief_Chum Posted 8 February , 2007 Share Posted 8 February , 2007 Hi Steve, From memory there were quite a few men of the 12th (Service) Battalion who were issued with 5---- series numbers; not the original Bantams but, in June 1918 the Battalion were returned to England as a cadre and were intended to remain as a training establishment. On 19th June nearly 700 men (all B2 category) joined the Battalion from many other units and, on 5th July, the Battalion returned to France. I think it is these 700 men who seem to have those high 5---- series numbers. I don't know if this ties in with what your lady knows but I hope it might be of some help. With best wishes, Taff
steve fuller Posted 8 February , 2007 Author Share Posted 8 February , 2007 Thanks Taff It neither helps nor hinders from the info she has but the timing almost fits in with his original Btn disbanding so could well lead somewhere! Appreciated Taff, thanks!
